For many reasons. 1) This was the first time I got to really work with Brown. We actually recorded 3 diff songs. But this one really shined. 2) I gave my heart to this record. Its nuffin like a feeling for a artist when you hear the music and the pen just flows. 3) At this time in my life I was leaving behind an old style and really getting into the hip hop I wanted to make. This is a song I sampled using a Country Record. Was kicking it with this Shorty from Boston and she dared me to sample something country and make it sound funky. Well she passed out while i was making this cuz it took me about 3 hours to finally find a sample i could vibe with. So got the beat done. The next day my man IQ from the Low Budget Crew came through and so did Awthentik and we rocked. Never had a use for it. Was gonna put it on something but it just got overlooked. So here you go. The Al Green Project

Standout Track: “Grits,” a driving hip-hop track that samples Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together,” and features lyrics by Bowie, Md.–based MC Kaimbr, whose government name is…Al Green. With Kaimbr’s brawny lyrics and producer Kev Brown’s trademark deep bass line, “Grits” avoids sounding like other hip-hop records built around the same snippet.

Musical Motivation: Not surprisingly, the fact that Kaimbr shares a name with soul legend Al Green is what inspired he and Brown to create the track, which appears on the Budget Is Low mixtape and will be part of an entire Al Green meets Al Green album. “I was talking with Kev Brown, and we thought it’d be dope to do a project of all Al Green samples, play off of it,” Kaimbr says. Originally, “Grits” was to be titled “Stirg” to avoid dredging up the famous incident where a spurned loved one decided to hit the Rev. Al with a hot pot of hominy. “We didn’t want to disrespect him,” Kaimbr says. “But Kev said, if we’re gonna do this, let do it.”

Glory To His Name: Many rappers are hesitant to give out their full legal names—not Kaimbr, aka Alexander Green. “I’ve always said it on the records I put out—I thought it was cool to have the name Al Green,” he says. “I think more rappers should use their real names—it’s what your mama named you.”

So at sunset today they cancelled the search for NFL players Corey Smith and Marquis Cooper, also, former South Former player William Bleakley. Over 60 hours ago there 21 foot boat was flipped. Bleakley was said to have swam underneath the boat to retrieve life jackets. Sometime within that night the men were seperated. One survivor Scott Miller was found 40 hours after the boat was overturned. He is said to be in good condition. I watched an interview with Corey Smith's wife, and I just can't imagine the pain she must be feeling,as well as the other family members of the men missing at sea. I pray that you all are along sure somewhere. It's just a reminder that life is never promised. We will keep you in our prayers and if you are with God that you rest in peace.

So 8 months ago we watched him win the us open on a broken leg in overtime. After not hitting a Golf Ball for 6 months, all it takes is a practice round and hey "I'm ready to compete." Yes its a big tourney but its matchplay. Its crazy to me how one guy is bigger than a sport. Think about it. Not one football player is bigger than the sport of football. Baseball, Basketball, or even Tennis. Tiger Woods is Golf. And we are glad to have him back. Masters is in April. Can't wait.

In life there are certain memories that you will never forget. To be in a room with(Pete Rock, Talib Kweli, and Mrs. Yancey(Dilla's Mom aka Ma Dukes) was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I would like to thank XM Radio, The Players, And all Artist friends and family that attended. As Grap and I sat in the green room with Dilla's Mom and listened to them trade stories about Dilla and there time with him was amazing. She was so open to my questions about Dilla and about his life outside of music. Being a father I cant understand what it would be like to loose one of my kids. But tomorow is NEVER PROMISED. The words I will keep with me is when she said "Cherish every moment you have with them, you never know..." And God if thats not the truth. Life to me has become more than music its become living. Sometimes the money is not right, or the music might slack a little, or u have to give your bio everyday to people who could care less who u are, but at the end of the day, We are all blessed to be alive and able to go through those obstacles to reach the Golden moments in life. What up family? So I get an email from this dude like, what up wit a collab. So he sent me a beat and was jus like lemme know. And once I listened to the track, well, it was Right. It felt like music. So I was on it. Its a great feeling as a writer/producer when the music just makes everything flow. So I wrote and recorded my verse at like 4 in the morning. I had to work that night and didnt get home till 2. Passed out, later that day i burned the vocals as a mp3 file by mistake. Sent it to em anyway, and once I heard the mix,DAMN! These two brothers from the D. Named The Regiment! In my opinion these brothers are young, there energy is CRAZY, and the music is outstanding.
